Capability Explorer is an innovative toolset designed to empower individuals and teams in their personal and professional development.

Centred around a dynamic card-based system, this unique resource highlights the 10 core capabilities for various professions across industries, such as Accounting & Finance, Legal, Human Resources, Sales & Customer Experience, and Engineering.

Whether you’re an aspiring professional, a team leader, or an organisation focused on growth – Capability Explorer provides actionable insights and guidance to help you strengthen critical skills, identify growth opportunities, and achieve success in your field.

What's in the toolkit?

Capability Cards

The core deck includes skill cards that outline various capabilities important to each profession. Participants use these skill cards in an engaging and interactive way to rank their own skill levels (or get peers to rank for them), helping them identify areas for improvement and learning opportunities to enhance their current job performance and career prospects.

Scenario Cards

Included is a deck of scenario cards that present realistic scenarios and tasks related to essential capabilities such as communication, project management, strategic thinking, stakeholder management, risk assessment, and more. Participants identify the key capability needed for each scenario and are encouraged to discuss why it is important. This will increase awareness of the significance of each capability and its usefulness in day to day activities, helping participants to identify gaps in their own capabilities they can look to improve upon.

Skill Development Blueprint

A skill development blueprint helps individuals and teams to build plans based on self-assessment, feedback, and gap analysis. From this they can prioritise the most critical areas for improvement and identify specific actions you can take to develop those skills. 

How to use the toolkit?

The toolkit can be used in one-on-one or team settings, plus includes resources to help individuals after these discussions to start developing the capabilities further!

One-on-one Development Discussions

The toolkit enables a guided discussion in one-on-one conversations with peers, mentors and leaders to identify individuals strengths and opportunities for further development.

Small Group Workshops

The small group approach enables teams to see the balance of individuals capabilities across their peers and prompt discussions on how they can leverage these capabilities in various scenarios.

Personal Development Resources

As part of the toolkit we provide a development blueprint and self-guided resources for each capability as a starting point for further growth.
